ROCA HERITAGE
The ROC in Action
The Royal Observer Corps during its 70-long years in existence; relied upon specifically developed equipment and accommoodation that was effectively developed to allow the Corps to undertake their duties.
Infrastructure
During WW2, the accommodation was generally ad-hoc and quickly improvised from whatever materials were to hand. Later during the war, such sites were improved. It was only after the war when sites were developed to improve protection through the development of Orlit Posts and later the underground monitoring posts of the nuclear age.
Equipment
Like accomodation, the equipment used by the Corps also developed over the years. The equipment used during WW2 was generally basic but provided effective outputs if used accurately. Developments after WW2, saw greater use of transistorised equipment as the nuclear age began and technology improved.
Uniforms & Badges
The provision of specific uniforms provided the Corps with a unique identity whether it was based on the influence from the Special Constablary or the Royal Air Force.
