Portadown ROC Post Museum, County Armargh

The monitoring post at Portadown was built in 1959 and is the only restored post in Northern Ireland (Irish Grid Ref. IH 965577). Portadown was a master post as well as a ROCMET post and retains all its original radio and MET equipment, the radio is in working condition and the post holds an RSGB special event call sign GB1ROC.

The post is open once per month during the summer period but pre-booked visits can also be arranged. (Please see Events Page for next open days). Guided tours of the above and below ground portions of the post will be given. Admission is free. Further details can be found at :

Long Kesh ROC Museum, Lisburn

The Ulster Aviation Society's Heritage Site is situated a few miles South West of Lisburn City at a former WW2 RAF Station - Long Kesh airfield (Irish Grid Ref.  IJ230615)

​The Society is currently renting one of two very large Type T2 listed Hangars adjacent to one another with a view to eventually obtaining a lease.
 
The Society has a very large collection of aircraft  and helicopters having recently purchased the last Canberra PR9 made in Belfast. In addition, there is an excellent ROC Display of artefacts in an Annex to the hangar. Included, an aircraft Ops Room plotting table, Post Pedestal and plotting table with Post Instrument (aka Micklethwait), mock-up Underground Post, Cold War Ops Room with Displays  "A" & "B" and several display cabinets. Cold War WB1400 Warning System with electric siren and many other ROC instruments.

The site is not open to the public but visits can be arranged by contacting via the following website of the Ulster Aviation Society. Photos of the museum are shown below.
