This booklet was produced in 1936 to provide information to police officers regarding the role and duties of the Observer Corps. Note that the booklet refers to the "Observer Corps" as the 'Royal' title wasn't issued until 1941. |

This booklet was produced by the Air Ministry in 1941 to provide information regarding the operations of the Observer Posts in the maintenance of the Air Defence of Great Britain. The change from Observer Corps to 'Royal' Observer Corps may be seen on the front cover and first page. The rest of the text is similar to previous versions. |

Recruitment leaflet produced by the Air Ministry Publicity Branch and the Central Office of Information in 1963. The emphasis of the ROC's role had by now changed to encompass the nuclear monitoring and warning role. This new role can clearly be seen from the recruitment leaflet. |

THE ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF THE ROYAL OBSERVER CORPS (1970)
Booklet produced by HQ ROC in March 1970 to provide information relating to the history of the ROC. The booklet was an update on previous versions (especially the booklet published in 1935 - see above) and was produced after the 1968 defence cuts and therefore included information relating to the reduction of the Corps structure i.e. reduction in the number of monitoring posts from 1563 to 873 and subsequent changes in reporting lines. |

A5 sized booklet produced by the Central Office of Information for the Home Office to provide information relating to the role of the United Kingdom Warning and Monitoring Organisation (UKWMO). The booklet explains the role of the organisation in the form of the actions that the organisation would have undertaken in the event of a nuclear attack on the United Kingdom. |

ROC TRAINING OBJECTIVES - POSTS (ELEMENTARY TRAINING) (1991)
The purpose of this document is to teach the Observer in the key (elementary) skills for them to undertake their role in the ROC within the underground monitoring post. Key skills to be learnt include knowledge of equipment, effects of nuclear weapons, organisational structure / operations and Transition to War (TTW). |
